Initial Consultation
Your initial consultation will take the form of a discussion with Jasper, exploring in detail what you want to achieve through surgery, as well as ascertaining your fitness for surgery. Your breasts will then be examined and realistic outcomes following surgery will be laid out, with numerous options to achieve your goals offered. This can be anything from differing procedures, implant shapes and where the implants can be placed. Crucially, it's about your comfort and happiness above all else.
Second Consultation
For those clients proceeding to surgery, you'll receive a free second consultation. At this stage, Jasper works with you to finalise the size of your implants and re-discusses potential complications that can arise from surgery. Jasper will also utilise his experience from operating on hundreds of men and women to answer any questions you have before you consent to surgery and an anaesthetic assessment is arranged.
Procedure Day, What to Expect
Travelling from Plymouth, you'll be admitted to the ward at Taunton Nuffield Hospital on the day your operation is scheduled. Helpful, friendly nurses will make you comfortable and ease any anxiety you have before you're placed under general anaesthetic. From there, Jasper will begin work on your agreed procedure.
Going Home
In general, you're ready to go home the same day, but an overnight bed will be arranged if required. Have a friend or family member pick you up as you will be unable to drive and take a week to rest after surgery. Your dressings will be removed after ten days, when you visit Jasper in his clinic near Plymouth, before a final visit three months post-surgery. Just remember to wear a soft and supportive bra with no underwiring for the first six weeks.
Getting Back to Normal
Breast augmentation surgery requires that you take one or two weeks off work. Swelling in your breasts will gradually subside over 4-6 weeks and any pains experienced should settle down too. Whilst it's possible to drive after 48 hours, most people feel comfortable driving after around two weeks. After six weeks, your regular exercise regime can be resumed and you can go back to wearing your underwired bras.

Jasper Gill BSc (Hons), MBBS, MRCS, FRCS (Gen Surg) began his journey undergoing medical training at Guys and St. Thomas Hospital, London. Once qualified, he underwent broad surgical training in London, Reading and Oxford for five years before committing to a further five years of specialist surgical training in and around Oxford.
It was at this time that Jasper decided to specialise in breast surgery and tailored his training towards that goal, visiting leading breast augmentation centres in Milan at the European Institute of Oncology and New York at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
In 2008, Jasper became a nationally appointed Oncoplastic Breast Fellow in Portsmouth where he completed his training and has been an NHS consultant surgeon since 2009.
Appointed as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Taunton & Somerset NHS foundation Trust in 2009, Jasper Gill provides breast reconstruction services in the NHS and cosmetic breast surgery in his private practice at the Somerset Nuffield Hospital, Taunton.
